Returning to London, I went straight to the National Gallery which houses some of my favourite artworks. I felt inspired to revisit an interpretation of 'Judgement of Paris' by Peter Paul Rubens (my favourite).
Inspired by his 1638 work, I wanted to reimagine it in a modern setting. The graceful gestures of the original, now replaced with twerks and slavesquats. Athenas armour now a Lambourghuini. The hound, now a whippet in in a vest. Aphrodite exhibits some self love with a selfie too. I went for a psychedelic background as i wanted to portray a world that's not so easily understood.
I hope to create a set based on the back of these, again looking at the classicals pieces and throwing them into modern settings.
